From the San Francisco Back to the Philippines: Hive Modular Showcases Sustainable Modular Housing for Balikbayans
On November 5, Hive Modular connected with the Filipino community in the Bay Area through a special Balikbayan Meet-up, showcasing how modern, sustainable homes in the Philippines are transforming the way Filipinos build back home. The event highlighted the company’s commitment to modular construction, prefab innovation, and housing solutions designed for Filipinos abroad who dream of returning home to smarter, greener living spaces.

San Francisco, United States of America, November 05, 2025 – As a scrappy startup, we have to be incredibly thoughtful about how and where we spend money to reach our customers. That means getting creative and going beyond conventional sales and marketing playbooks.
One insight we’ve had at Hive Modular is that a large portion of our inquiries come from balikbayans: Filipinos living abroad but planning to build back home. Many are looking for modern housing solutions and sustainable housing options that reflect both Filipino values and global standards. So instead of waiting for them to find us online, we decided to go meet them in person.
While in San Francisco this week for the Urban Land Institute Fall Meeting, we hosted a Hive Modular Balikbayan Meet-up at TSELOGS Restaurant in Daly City; a hub of the Filipino community in the Bay Area. We shared our vision for modular homes in the Philippines, our commitment to modular construction, and how prefab construction and modular build methods can make quality homes faster, more affordable, and more sustainable.
We also showcased our latest modular home design concepts, ranging from compact modular design layouts to flexible modular housing design models that adapt to different lifestyles and site conditions. We had a fantastic turnout from people curious about what we’re building and excited about the future of homebuilding in the Philippines.
Big thanks to everyone who came out, to Chel Gilla for providing the beautiful venue, and for Raina Louisette Ordoña for organizing. It was incredibly energizing to see how much pride and optimism there is among Filipinos in the US about shaping the future of modular homes and sustainable living back home.
Let’s keep building. 🐝
