Manila Times: Hive Modular and Samsung to Build PH's First Smart Modular Home

Manila, Philippines, June 2026. National daily Manila Times featured a landmark partnership between Hive Modular and Samsung Electronics Philippines Corp. to develop the country's first fully integrated smart modular home. The agreement, signed May 8 and running through December 2027, combines Hive Modular's factory-built construction with Samsung's IoT-enabled appliances, energy management systems, and home automation through the SmartThings platform.

John Avrett, Hive Modular CEO, tells Manila Times: "Filipino homeowners shouldn't have to choose between a home that's built well and a home that's built smart. This collaboration lets us deliver both." Hive Modular COO Jose Torres adds that the collaboration "demonstrates how technology can be integrated into housing at scale, making connected living more accessible." Samsung Electronics Philippines President Roman Han highlights how the partnership will showcase SmartThings' single-app control of connected devices across the home.

Manila Times captures the broader vision: future applications across staff housing, resort villas, and residential communities, with a pilot demonstration unit announcement pending plan finalization. The piece positions the Samsung partnership as a significant moment for Philippine smart modular housing.

We're grateful to Manila Times for bringing this milestone partnership to a national audience.
